Outsourced project support office for utilities company

The Challenge

A major utilities organisation wanted to ‘embed’ a new approach to project management, which would start to ensure that all major projects were delivered on time and to budget & quality and with a high degree of consistency. Projects included, critical weekend work, short initiatives, new build (construction, engineering, process control) and major outages.

The Key Solutions
  • The client had already used an Innovation team to create a series of project management standards, based on Innovation’s Project Management Approach (PMA).
  • This work included the creation of a project manager’s handbook, new procedures, plus matching project and project management audit templates and training courses.
  • In order to ensure that this important investment was fully delivered as benefits, the client was advised to implemented, an independent project office to ‘lead-in’ the new standards on a practical day-to-day basis.
The Outcomes

The company now has common, unified consolidated progress, risk, issue, cost and change management across all of their projects and is continuing with a programme of training and coaching for all key projects staff.
